Oct. 21st - 25th K - 3rd grades
     This week the K - 3rd grades are discussing the Appalachian Mts. and the Native American Cherokee that originally inhabited that area.  They have learned about the planting techniques of they had for planting the "three sisters", corn, beans and squash together.  They are learning about synergy in the 7 habits of healthy children so we made the connection with the "three sisters".  The corn provides a place for the beans to vine.  The beans provide oxygen for the corn to grow it's tallest and healthiest.  The squashes leaves provide the shade that the other plants need to help control the weeds in a safe and natural way.  We also made the connection to how we can work together to bring our different abilities to help each other grow and do our best as well.
