During this week the students combined Art, Music, Social Studies and Writing to create a Fall Haiku that will later be set to music in music class with Mr. Shep. The final step will be to perform these for their classmates! After discussing about the history and composition of a Haiku the students brainstormed Fall words at each table and then composed their own group Haiku that they shared with the class. Next, the students made a Fall collage using various other processes and media. Those included, leaf rubbings, gluing leaf shapes, and printing tempera painted leaves next to their own Haiku. Below are some of their creations! This was a very successful lesson on many levels.
