Oct. 20th - 24th  2014- 2015 Landscape of  Fall Foliage in Appalachian Mt.
The students learned that the early pioneers had to cross the Appalachian Mts. Since it is fall they learned why leaves change colors and what the landscape of the Appalachian Mts. would look like. We discussed the picture plane and how placement and size of objects along with details help the viewer understand which items are in the foreground, mid ground and background.  We discussed the horizon line and executed a vanishing point with the winding river.  They also learned that the colors and details of objects change according to the distance they represent within the painting.    Below are some examples of their landscapes.
