Each year I start off by introducing all the elements of art: line, shape, form, color, texture, value and space. This week we will be focusing on all the types of lines and types of Geometric as well as free form shapes. I also add in a review of primary and secondary colors. Anytime I can make a connection to another subject I jump on it. Today's connection is with math. We will be creating a robot named "Gallon Bot" that shows the relationships between gallons, quarts, pints and cups. So, not only are the students learning art elements they are learning the math terms concerning a gallon. Below is an example of what the students are learning:
